4 Tasty Radish Recipes - Radish Tea Sandwiches, French Buttered Radishes, Avocado w/ Radish Salad & Roasted Radishes

I know maybe it’s a bit late in the season to be sharing radish recipes but the radishes in my garden are just now ready to enjoy. Our garden got off to a rough and slow start this year but now seems to be doing good. So far gardening in South Carolina seems to be just as difficult as gardening in California…haha! There are new and exciting bugs and diseases to learn about and figuring out the watering schedule with in a place that actually has rain makes me really nervous…haha! I’m doing my best though!

These radishes were definitely a sight for sore eyes after everything and I couldn’t wait to create something with them. I’ve never loved radishes a ton by themselves but add a bit of sweet cream butter and a sprinkling of salt or layer them up on some light sliced bread with herbed butter and they’re heavenly!

These 4 recipes are simple to put together, beautiful to look at and have light but delightful flavors. Between these 4 recipes there is something for every occasion…a picnic, a dinner, a party or a snack :)

RADISH & Herbed butter TEA SANDWICH recipe

INGREDIENTS -

  • Sliced bread - tea sandwiches are best on soft sliced white bread, crusts removed. In these pictures I used a sliced wheat bread and I honestly thought it was a little too much for the delicate flavor of the toppings. Next time I’ll use white too :)

  • Sweet cream salted butter - at room temperature

  • Radishes

  • Fresh herbs - I used basil and chives

  • Micro greens - I used some micro beet greens that I had on hand. If you don’t have micro greens they could be left out.

  • Salt - a nice quality finishing salt like fleur de sel. A nicer salt is best but if you don’t have any you can use a sea salt or table salt.

*Quantities - Each slice of bread should need approx. 2-3 tsps. of the butter herb mixture and 1-2 radishes.

PREPARATION -

  1. Dice the herbs and mix them into the soft butter, spread on the slices of bread.

  2. Slice the radishes and layer them up on the bread. Add a few micro greens or a few chives (if desired) and then sprinkle on the finishing salt.

  3. Serve and enjoy!!

FRENCH BUTTERED RADISHES recipe

INGREDIENTS -

  • Radishes - Obviously the French variety would be best :) but any type of radish will work!

PREPARATION -

  1. Trim the ends of the radishes and then cut them in half.

  2. Using a small knife spread a small about of butter on the cut end of the radish.

  3. Sprinkle with the finishing salt, serve and enjoy!
